Professors Jinkyu Yang, Joo Hwan Oh, and Yoon Young Kim (Distinguished Professor Emeritus) from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University successfully hosted Phononics 2025: The 7th International Conference on Phononic Crystals/Metamaterials, Phonon Transport, and Topological Phononics from June 9 to 13, 2025, at the Seoul Olympic Parktel.

From its establishment in 2011, Phononics conference has been recognized as the most authoritative conference in the field of acoustic and elastic metamaterials. The conference brought together about 200 researchers in the field from 21 countries around the world, serving as a vibrant platform for sharing the latest research achievements and fostering active academic exchange.

During the conference, a variety of programs were held, including a lab tour at SNU, a conference banquet, and social activities such as guided tours of Seoul, all of which received enthusiastic responses from participants.

The conference was organized by three professors from SNU Mechanical Engineering, with generous support from various institutions including Seoul National University, the Seoul Tourism Organization, and the Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG)
